Chocolate Bread Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra richness)
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
1. Prepare for Baking:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the milk (or buttermilk), oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
4. Make the Batter:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
Fold in ¾ cup chocolate chips.
5. Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for a glossy, chocolatey finish.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
6. Cool and Enjoy
Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
